About The Microlearning Lab
The Microlearning Lab is a free library of real microlearning examples, case studies, guides and experiments produced by Ninja Tropic, a custom eLearning studio founded in 2016. Every example was built for a real client or tested in our own lab, so you can see what short-form training looks like in practice.
What is The Microlearning Lab?
The Microlearning Lab is a reference library for people who design, buy or approve short-form training. It collects real microlearning examples, sorted by industry, training type, format and tool, along with case studies, practical guides and experiments with new tools. It is a resource site, built to help you make decisions, not a sales site.
Most microlearning content online describes the idea in the abstract. We wanted a place where you could watch the actual work: a 45-second patient education explainer, an interactive safety scenario, a CE module for nurses, an AI roleplay built without a developer. Seeing finished examples makes it far easier to agree on scope, style and budget with your team.
Who produces the examples?
Every portfolio example and case study on this site was produced by Ninja Tropic for a real client. Clients include the Hospice and Palliative Nurses Association, USA Swimming, the American Rental Association, EmPRO, the We Mean Business Coalition and the Open Compute Project. Lab experiments are internal tests and are labeled that way.
Ninja Tropic is a custom eLearning development studio based in Arizona with a team of about 20. We build custom eLearning, microlearning, video and animation, interactive Storyline and Rise courses, gamification, SCORM and xAPI packages, course modernization, and certification and continuing education programs. We are not an LMS vendor. We stay technology-agnostic and work alongside the platforms our clients already use.
Client work appears with permission. Our editorial policy explains how examples are selected, reviewed and updated.
The Microlearning Lab on YouTube
The Microlearning Lab started as a YouTube channel, and the channel is still where every video lives. As of October 2026, it holds 335 videos with about 128,000 total views, and it ranks on page one of Google for “microlearning examples.” This site organizes that archive so you can find the right example quickly.
Alongside client examples, the channel includes interviews with learning designers and researchers, how-to walkthroughs, tool reviews and AI experiments. You can subscribe at youtube.com/@microlearningexamples.
Who is this site for?
This site is written for the people who plan and approve training programs. That includes association education and learning leaders, healthcare and medical society education teams, nonprofit training leads, L&D managers and instructional designers. Technology companies building customer education will find useful examples here too.
If you are making the case for microlearning, building a CE program, converting a long course, or comparing formats before you write a request for proposals, start with the examples closest to your audience.
Awards and recognition
Ninja Tropic’s work for associations, nonprofits and clinical audiences has been recognized by the Brandon Hall Group, ASAE, eLearning Industry and Training Magazine Network. The awards below are for client projects of the same kind you will find in this library.
- Four Brandon Hall Group Excellence Awards in 2025 (three Gold, one Silver) for association and nonprofit work
- Three more Brandon Hall Group awards in 2026 for association and clinical content
- Two Silver ASAE Power of Association Awards in 2026
- Recognition from eLearning Industry and Training Magazine Network
How to use this site
The fastest way to use this site is to start with your audience, then narrow by the problem you need to solve. Industry hubs group examples by who the learners are, training type hubs group them by the job the training must do, and format hubs show what each delivery style looks like.
- Browse the microlearning examples library by industry, training type, format or tool.
- Watch our shortlist of featured microlearning examples.
- Read the microlearning case studies for results.
- Use the microlearning guides to plan, budget and measure your program.
- Follow new tests in The Microlearning Lab experiments.
The site and the channel are led by Ninja Tropic’s founder and CEO. Read Erick Prospero’s author profile for his background.
