Who is Erick Prospero?

Erick Prospero is the founder and CEO of Ninja Tropic, a custom eLearning development studio based in Arizona that builds microlearning, interactive video, and certification and continuing education programs. He founded the company in 2016 and leads a team of about 20 that works mainly with associations, medical societies, healthcare organizations and nonprofits.

Under his leadership, Ninja Tropic’s association and clinical work has earned four Brandon Hall Group Excellence Awards in 2025 (three Gold, one Silver), three more Brandon Hall Group awards in 2026, and two Silver ASAE Power of Association Awards in 2026. You can see much of that work in the microlearning examples library and the microlearning case studies.

Background in learning and development

Before founding Ninja Tropic, Erick ran a learning and development team at the Institute for Supply Management (ISM), where he oversaw course development. That experience on the client side, as the person responsible for an organization’s learning products, shapes how he approaches projects today.

He holds degrees from Arizona State University’s W.P. Carey School of Business. His business training informs his interest in how learning programs are marketed, priced and measured, not only how they are designed, a theme that runs through many of his interviews.

Host of The Microlearning Lab

Erick hosts The Microlearning Lab interviews on YouTube, where he talks with learning designers, researchers and technology leaders about what works in short-form training. The channel holds 335 videos and has about 128,000 views as of October 2026. It also ranks on page one of Google for “microlearning examples.”

Guests have included Christy Tucker on scenario-based learning, JD Dillon on designing training that fits the job, Josh Cavalier on AI for microlearning video, Robyn Defelice on microlearning design, Rance Greene on instructional story design, and John Leh on choosing an LMS for an association. He also runs the hands-on tests published in The Microlearning Lab experiments, from AI roleplay simulators to branching scenarios built with AI-generated video.

Areas of expertise

Erick’s expertise sits where instructional design meets the business of learning. He works on how short-form training is designed and built, and on how association and healthcare learning programs reach members, earn credit and prove their value. His main areas are listed below.

  • Microlearning design and strategy for associations and nonprofits
  • Continuing education (CE) and certification program development
  • Interactive video and scenario-based learning
  • Articulate Storyline 360 and Rise 360 development
  • AI tools in learning and development, including AI video and AI roleplay
  • Marketing, pricing and measuring association learning products

What Erick writes about on this site

Erick writes and reviews the practical guides on this site, drawing on projects Ninja Tropic has delivered for associations, healthcare organizations and nonprofits. The guides cover planning, budgeting, building and measuring microlearning. Every guide goes through practitioner review before it is published, as described in our editorial policy.

Good places to start are microlearning for associations, how to measure microlearning ROI and how to implement microlearning. The full list lives in the microlearning guides library.

You can follow Erick’s work in three places outside this site. The YouTube channel carries every example, interview and experiment as it is published, his personal site has more about his background and work, and LinkedIn is the best place to connect with him directly about association learning and microlearning.
